K.A.T.T.'s name is an acronym that does not stand for anything, as it was assigned to him by the little girl that he developed a tendency to play with, who was simply imitating the common naming patterns without actually knowing what they meant.

K.A.T.T. is a time-traveling robot meant to perform tasks across timelines, retrieving materials and gathering information. K.A.T.T.'s greatest difficulties lie in determining cause and effect between changes in timelines and avoidance of paradoxes, as well as subtlety. One can see how this is a problem.

Q is a small surveillance droid who has chosen to travel with K.A.T.T. after a certain event (pictured in the background somewhere) drove everything crazy. Q was named by K.A.T.T. because Q reminded him of a cue ball, which K.A.T.T. thought was called a "Q ball".
