A character I'm working on for a new story I've been tossing around in my head about a postal service worker getting caught up in a nation's ongoing civil war. The postal service is a dangerous job because of the war, often having to travel between borders and dealing with citizens, soldiers, and authority on both sides of the war issues. Funding is pretty low for the business, so transportation is mostly out of the question, leading to postal workers often having to travel for days to deliver packages or letters from town to town. Kind of... a fantasy adventure story that I want to do. It's just world-building is a lot easier for me than an actual plot, so I'm trying to design the characters and then work out what will happen chronologically in the story.

But here's the first character and the protagonist! He's kind of a slouch, and doesn't show a lot of interest in his job. His co-workers and his boss don't seem to have a high opinion of him, yet he seems to have an underlying ambition that he doesn't share with others.

I'm not set on the colors and I don't really know how I feel about them. There's a lot of green, and while I feel like it all goes together well, I want his cloak/hood thingy to be identifiable as a work uniform (the other mail carriers will be wearing the same thing in the story), so I think some kind of blue might be more uniform-like. But then that might clash with his other colors, so Iunno. Also, his hair is really neat and fun to draw, but I'm afraid it's too similar to Almond's. :S

Oh, and I threw some work-in-progress logos for the postal service up there. They use carrier pigeons some times. Iunno.

Haha a postman character, that's nice. Maybe
a logo on the cloak/hoody would make it look
like a work uniform? The cross hatching is
very effective, again.

Yeah, I had planned on the logo being on the back of the cloak. I just gotta figure out a logo to use first.

And thank you!

Ha! Love the flipflops! I really have a hard time imagining this guy delivers the mail on time. But I bet it always arrives with a smile. Dude!

Yeah, I agree. I love random stuff in character's hair. It just looks so cool yet really silly.

Honestly, the black and white version looks a bit like a grown up Almond, but I didn't see that in the colored at all. Plus, he looks cool and I like the story idea.

Yeah, I think it's the eyes in that B&W version... and also the face shape. I'll play around with those two things to try to make him look not-Almondish.

Plus, thank you!

He does kind of look like Almond...
But I really like the design. His appearance really conveys his personality well... I think it might be the facial expression or his excellent slouch.

Haha, thank you. I do like his design as well, striking resemblances to Almond or not. His hair is just too much fun.

Groovy guy. I can see myself puffing magic dragons with him.

Bandana, beads, and bandages. All the cool accessories start with B.

Hahaha, he does seem like someone who would "puff magic dragons."
