And here's day 7! I'm still behind, but now... less so.

So this is a virus. (Obviously.) But it's not just any virus! It's a sentient virus. Self-aware and whatnot.
It "attacks" a host's brain (without leaving any permanent neurological damage) and takes over the host's body.
The change isn't permanent, as within about a week the host body's antibodies will stop the virus, which is when the virus will infect a new host.
The virus is pretty courteous,as it will only infect one host at a time. The virus's personality is pretty sunny, and one way to notice that someone is infected is a sudden personality change, or (more obvious) eyes always shut and always smiling.

The virus, unlike some other forms of brainwashing/mid control/impersonation, won't pretend to be the person it's controlling and will freely admit that it's a virus.
It can affect either males or females. (and dang it, which "affect/effect" is the verb? I NEVER REMEMBER!)

I've always had a fondness for sentient viruses myself. :)
